Orlando, FL — It’s that time of year when the Central Florida area transforms for the Halloween season. Halloween events can range from family-friendly trick-or-treating at Magic Kingdom® Park to terrifying haunted houses at Universal Studios Florida®. In addition to the theme parks, haunted attractions open for the season to offer additional scares around the Central Florida area.
2014 Theme Park Halloween Events
Central Florida’s theme parks are getting into the spirit with Halloween parties, trick-or-treating for kids and scary haunted houses.
• Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom® Park – Trick-or-treat with Mickey and friends through the streets of the Magic Kingdom® Park? You’ll get your chance during the annual Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party which includes trick-or-treat stations & trails, a unique Halloween-themed parade and a nighttime fireworks display. This year’s event will be held from 7:00 PM to midnight on the following 26 nights: September 1, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, October 2-3, 5, 9-10, 13, 16-17, 19, 21, 23-24, 26, 28 and 30-31. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately-ticketed event and is appropriate for children of all ages and encourages all guests to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes.
• Halloween Horror Nights® at Universal Studios Florida® – Halloween Horror Nights® features all-new terrifying haunted houses, spine-chilling street experiences and outrageous live shows. Eight all-new haunted houses will debut including: Halloween®, The Walking Dead: End of the Line, AVP: Alien Vs. Predator, From Dusk Till Dawn, Dracula Untold – Reign of Blood, Dollhouse of the Damned, Giggles & Gore Inc. and Roanoke – Cannibal Colony. This year’s event will be held on the following 28 nights: September 19-20, 25-28, October 2-5, 9-12, 15-19, 22-26, 29-31 and November 1. Halloween Horror Nights® is a separately-ticketed event and is not recommended for children under the age of 13.
• Halloween Spooktacular® at SeaWorld® Orlando – Halloween Spooktacular® is the ultimate family-friendly event featuring an ocean of Halloween fun. Families can create new memories as they trick-or-treat for ghoulish candies, dance with whimsical sea creatures, catch silly and spooky shows and create sea-themed arts and crafts. This year’s event will be held on the following 8 nights: October 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26. Halloween Spooktacular® is included at no additional charge with SeaWorld® Orlando admission. Children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes.
• Brick-or-Treat at LEGOLAND® Florida – The family-friendly event, Brick-or-Treat, returns to LEGOLAND® Florida every Saturday and Sunday in October. Brick-or-Treat features trick-or-treating along the Brick-or-Treat trail, build your own LEGO® model activities, the largest LEGO® Jack-O-Lantern in the world, Halloween entertainment and a kids costume contest with brick-tastic prizes! This year’s event will be held on the following 8 nights: October 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26. Brick-or-Treat is included at no additional charge with LEGOLAND® Florida admission. Children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes.
2014 Haunted Attractions
Central Florida’s haunted attractions provide guests a great way to experience Halloween outside of the theme parks.
• The Shallow Grave Haunted Attraction in Winter Haven – A spine-tingling haunted attraction with two separate haunts that places guests in the midst of terror in an intimate in-your-face, fear-filled environment where guests are begging for more while dying to get out. The Shallow Grave experience typically lasts around 20 minutes with no more than 6 guests entering the attraction at a time. This year’s event will be held from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM on the following 14 nights: October 3-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 30-31 and November 1. The Shallow Grave is not recommended for children under the age of 12, pregnant women, guests with heart conditions or guests prone to seizures or any other affliction made worse by fear, anxiety, or flashing lights.
• Terror on the Lake Haunted Attraction in Clermont – A haunted attraction which takes place at the haunted Manor House and incorporates complex visual effects, projections and lifelike animatronics to create surprises around every corner and even above and below guests. This year’s event will be held on the following 14 nights: October 10-12, 17-19, 23-26, 29-31 and November 1. Terror on the Lake recommends children 10 and under to be accompanied by an adult. Mind Shaft 13 haunted attraction can be an intensely scary haunted house; however, it does offer more than just a scare element.
• A Petrified Forest Haunted Attraction in Altamonte Springs – A haunted attraction isolated in the middle of a dark forest featuring two haunted scare trails. This Central Florida attraction also includes live entertainment, backstage tours, and other surprises. This year’s event will be held from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM on the following 15 nights: October 3-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 29-31 and November 1. A Petrified Forest is rated PG-13 and is not recommended for children under the age of 12; however, younger children or those who do not wish to be frightened are recommended to attend Kids Day or experience the backstage tour.
